What's new in Dawnlet

Everything that's changed in the app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, newest first. What's coming in the next version appears here as it's built.

Current version: 1.3.1 In review: 1.4.0 In development: 1.5.0

Coming in 1.5.0

In development

Being built now. Everything listed here is done and arrives with 1.5.0.

New

  • Habits a few times a week. Besides every day or specific weekdays, a habit can now be "3 times a week" (or 1 to 6) on whichever days suit you. It shows "2 of 3 this week" and stays on your list until the week's count is reached; its streak counts the weeks you reach it ("5-week streak"), with notifications when the week can only be saved today and milestones at 4, 8, 12, 26 and 52 weeks. Skip This Week excuses a week you're away without breaking the streak, and completion rates in insights and reports count each week by its target. Weeks start on the day you've chosen in Settings → Agenda.
  • Habits that check themselves off with Apple Health. A new Apple Health screen in Browse suggests habits from your own last four weeks - "Walk 8,000 steps a day", "Run 3 times a week", "Sleep 7 hours a night", mindful minutes, water, weigh-ins and more - and Dawnlet ticks them off when Health says you've reached the goal, even with the app closed. Those days get a small heart, and today's progress ("6,210 / 8,000 steps") shows on the habit. Untick a day and it stays unticked. Dawnlet only reads Health, on your iPhone or iPad, and your Health data never leaves your device - only the check-in is saved. One Health habit is free; Dawnlet Plus links as many as you like.
  • Todos in Apple Reminders. Turn on "Also sync with Apple Reminders" in Settings → Apple Integrations and your todos appear in a "Dawnlet" list in Apple Reminders - on your iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch through iCloud. Change a title or due date or tick one off on either side and the other follows; add a reminder to the Dawnlet list and it becomes a todo. Repeating todos show up a week ahead, one reminder per day they're due. Deleting a reminder in Reminders just stops mirroring that todo - it stays in Dawnlet. Several devices can have it on at once without doubling anything up. Part of Dawnlet Plus; showing your other Reminders lists in Todos stays free.

1.4.0

Build 2
In review

1.4.0 has been submitted to Apple. Everything here is built and arrives in the App Store update once it's approved.

Accessibility

  • Larger Text. At the accessibility text sizes, rows, headers and menus rearrange so nothing is cut off: long titles wrap with the time, amount or streak underneath, Browse's glances, streaks and stat tiles go one per row, the "+" menus become lists that grow and scroll, and the timer, amounts and unread count get bigger. The Apple Watch's timer, tiles and icons grow too.
  • More room at the largest text sizes. At the accessibility text sizes, Browse's title and greeting scroll away with the page while the search field stays at the top, so the cards start much higher up. The small badges on events, reminders and contacts, the "Day 3 of 8" and "Watched" labels, and the rating stars on rows now grow with your text size too. On Apple Watch, the icon of a habit you haven't done yet is easier to see against its coloured circle.
  • More contrast fixes. Numbers inside chart slices pick black or white to stay readable, habit week dots are clear rings, Apple Watch text is checked against its real row colour, and Watch complications follow the face's tint.
  • Better contrast everywhere. Coloured text and buttons, the selected day, Week and Month, filled buttons, rating stars, checkboxes, chart bars and icon tiles now meet accessibility contrast guidelines in light and dark mode - including the Home Screen widgets, the Live Activity and the Apple Watch app - with a little more again under Increase Contrast.
  • Voice Control answers to short, natural names. Say "Tap Add" or "Tap New" for any +, "Previous" or "Next" for the month, week and day arrows, "Pause", "Resume" and "Stop" for the timer, and an item's title to open it - "Check Buy milk" ticks a todo. With Voice Control on, each star in a rating is its own button, so "Tap 4 stars" sets it.
  • Differentiate Without Colour. With the setting on, Dawnlet adds shapes, numbers and words wherever colour was the only clue: module icons on Agenda's calendar, numbers matching breakdown bars to their legends, mood icons on the Journal's mood chart, a slash through skipped days in a habit's month, stripes on report periods that ran at a loss, icons in the Agenda widget, the name of the colour you picked, and "Ended" on finished events on Apple Watch. With it off, nothing changes.
  • "Move to…" for VoiceOver. Todos and events in Agenda - including one occurrence of a repeating one - have a "Move to…" action to pick a new day, the same move as dragging onto the calendar.

New

  • Update prompts. When a newer version of Dawnlet is on the App Store, a small card says so after you've been using the app for a minute - never while you're in the middle of editing something. Update opens the App Store; Not Now closes it, and it asks at most twice per version, a few days apart. Settings also shows "Update Available" until you update.
  • Filters on iPhone. The bucket lists, Recurring Events, Recurring Todos, Recurring Transactions, Manage Habits and Tracked Activities have a filter button beside "+" - the same To do / Done, Active / Paused, genre and category choices iPad shows beside the list. A filter you pick carries over when an iPad turns between one and two columns.
  • Narrow your search on iPhone. While you search from Browse, chips under the field show which modules the results come from, with counts - tap one to see only those.
  • "What's my day?" Ask Siri "What's my day in Dawnlet" - or run it from Shortcuts, Spotlight or the Action button - to hear today's events, the todos due and the habits still open, with a card listing them. It doesn't open the app.
  • A big timer for StandBy. The Timer Clock widget shows the running activity and a large ticking clock - made for StandBy when your iPhone charges on its side, red at night - and the reading where you paused it.
  • Check off a habit from Control Center. Add "Check Off Habit", pick a habit, and one tap marks it done for today - on Control Center, the Lock Screen or the Action button.
  • Look Back. A short written look at any week or month - habits, todos, time, journal, mood, streaks, badges and what you finished, plus your spending when Finance isn't locked. It opens on this week (or month) so far, and the arrows step back through earlier ones, up to two years. Open it from a card in Browse, the Sunday recap notification, or the Shortcuts app, and Plan My Week and Plan My Month now start by showing how the week or month before went. On devices with Apple Intelligence it's worded on your iPhone or iPad, and every number is checked against your own data; elsewhere the same review is written plainly. Part of Dawnlet Plus.
  • Patterns. A new screen in Browse that looks across modules: your mood on days you did each habit and days you didn't, with and without journalling or gratitudes, and against time tracked; spending on lower- and higher-mood days; and habits you tend to do together. Every finding shows its day counts and needs at least five days on each side. Part of Dawnlet Plus.
  • More than one window on iPad. Open Dawnlet beside itself in Split View or Stage Manager, or with File → New Window (⌥⌘N). Each window keeps its own tab and screens, a running timer shows in all of them, and each comes back where you left it.
  • Buy Dawnlet Plus from the App Store page. Tapping a Dawnlet Plus plan on Dawnlet's App Store page opens the app and finishes the purchase there.
  • Shake to undo. Shake your iPhone - or press ⌘Z / ⇧⌘Z on an iPad keyboard - to undo a delete while its Undo button is still up, or to undo and redo your last habit or todo check-off.
  • A Control Center control for one activity. Add "Start Activity", pick an activity, and one tap starts, resumes or stops its timer. Add it more than once for different activities.
  • Siri knows your categories and tags. "Add Todo" and "Log Expense" now take a category and tags - say "Log a Groceries expense in Dawnlet". Finance's Face ID lock and the free-plan limits still apply.
  • A report for just one module. Every module's insights now end with a Report card: pick the dates (or Last 30 days, This month, Last month, This year) and generate a report on only your habits, money, time, books and so on - the same report, charts and PDF export as the full one on Browse. Part of Dawnlet Plus.
  • Pie charts in Finance. Income and Spending by category can show as a pie as well as a bar - tap the chart to switch, and pick which one it starts as in Settings → Finance. Reports show both charts, and now break down income by category as well as spending - each one always there, even when it's empty. Part of Dawnlet Plus, like the rest of Finance's insights.

Improved

  • A shorter "Finish setting up Dawnlet" card. It shows at most three steps at a time, with the number left at the top, and has a new Siri & Shortcuts step: a phrase to try and a button into the Shortcuts app. The step is done once you've opened Shortcuts from it or used any Dawnlet action with Siri or Shortcuts.
  • Swipe the bar above the tabs away. Swipe it down - or long-press it and choose Hide - and it's gone until you next come back to Dawnlet. To turn it off for good, pick Off in Settings → Appearance.
  • The guided tour and the Dawnlet Plus screen use the width on iPad. On a wide window each tour page puts its illustration, larger, beside the words, and the Plus screen shows what's included on one side with the plans and Subscribe button on the other, staying in view while you read.
  • Plan My Week and Plan My Month use the width on iPad. The week's days (with what's planned on each) or the month's steps (with what you settled on) sit beside the step you're on.
  • Apple Watch timers show on the Time tab straight away, and with Dawnlet open, a timer started on the Watch gets its Lock Screen Live Activity at once.
  • Spotlight keeps up better. Apple Contacts imports, "Delete All Synced Contacts" and deleting sample data show in search right away, your most recent 5,000 transactions are searchable from any month, and tapping a result works even with another sheet open.
  • Handoff offers what you were really looking at - the module you opened from Agenda, or the item open in an editor.
  • Deleting sample data refreshes your notifications, widgets and Agenda straight away.
  • Open the app on any tab. Settings → "Open app on" now lists all five tabs - Agenda, Journal, Time, Finance and Browse - in tab-bar order.
  • New tab order: Agenda, Journal, Time, Finance, Browse. The Journal moves up next to Agenda - the day, then how it felt - and on iPad ⌘1 to ⌘5 follow the new order.
  • Finance has an Insights switch like every other module. Turn it on and your month's totals, breakdowns, a report and your budgets appear above your transactions, instead of replacing them. On an iPad wide enough for two columns they sit side by side, as before. The "Finance opens on" setting is gone - the switch remembers itself.
  • Notifications and Settings are always in the iPad tab bar, as a bell and a gear at the end, instead of appearing as a sixth tab only after you'd opened them. The bell carries the unread count, and Browse no longer repeats the two buttons in its header.
  • Budget notifications update straight away when you add, change or delete a budget or a transaction, or change a repeating one.
  • The About screen's "Why Dawnlet" note has been reworded.

1.3.1

Build 1 Released October 5, 2026
Live on the App Store

1.3.1 is out now - a bug-fix update. Update from the App Store to get the fixes below.

Fixed

  • Fixed a crash when the guided tour opened by itself on a new account's first launch. New accounts see the tour once again, and it's always in Settings → Help & Feedback.
  • iPad month insights no longer break a label mid-word ("complete" / "d") or cut off the Journal's mood names.
  • The iPad sidebar no longer shows an Edit button that did nothing when tapped.
  • Todos that repeat on "the Nth weekday of the month" (say, the second Tuesday) couldn't be saved. Fixed on our side on October 4, so it works in every version of the app, not just 1.3.1.
  • A repeating todo or event can't lose its schedule if the connection drops in the middle of saving it.

1.3.0

Build 3 Released October 4, 2026

New

  • Move one occurrence by dragging. Drag a repeating todo or event onto another day in Agenda to move just that occurrence - the rest of the series stays put.
  • Your timer on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, with Pause and Stop buttons.
  • Siri, Shortcuts and the Action button. Start, pause and stop timers, add a todo, check off a habit, log your mood or an expense, and open any screen - just say it, or build it into a shortcut.
  • Control Center controls: a timer toggle and Quick Add.
  • Find things from Spotlight. Your todos, habits, people, events, places, books, movies, meals, gratitudes and activities show up in iPhone and iPad search. Journal entries and transactions only if you turn them on in Settings, and never while Finance is locked.
  • Handoff between iPhone and iPad: pick up the same screen or item on your other device.
  • Share to Dawnlet. Send text or a web link from any app straight into a todo, book, movie, place or journal entry.
  • Tips for hidden features, like swipe and long-press actions, search's "Go to", the bar above the tabs and iPad keyboard shortcuts - at most one a day, and you can bring them back from Settings.
  • Search everywhere. People, Todos and your Places, Books and Movies lists have their own search, and Browse search now also finds meals, gratitudes, tracked activities and transaction notes - never while Finance is locked.
  • Search by tag. When a tag matches what you type, tap it to see everything tagged with it.
  • Undo for todos and events too. Deleting a todo or a one-off event now shows the same Undo button as everything else.
  • Skip the launch animation with a tap.
  • Undo a delete. Swipe away a journal entry, gratitude, meal, person, place, book, movie or transaction and an Undo button appears for a few seconds.
  • Long-press any row (or right-click on iPad) for the same things a swipe does, plus Edit - and Duplicate for meals and transactions. Journal entries and people show a preview.
  • Jump to any day in the Journal tab. Tap the date to pick one, or tap "Jump to today" to come back.
  • The tour's first three moves are shortcuts. On its last page, tap categories & tags, a first habit or Plan My Week to go straight there.

Improved

  • Delete prompts mention Undo. Where a delete can be undone, the question says you'll have a few seconds to undo it, instead of "This can't be undone."
  • The journal's Insights switch is now sky blue, like the rest of the journal.
  • One search field. Browse, Events, Journal and the new search screens all use the same field.
  • Browse looks like the other tabs. Its name is now the title, with your greeting underneath.
  • Settings, tidied up. Names are capitalised the same way everywhere, every row matches the page it opens, and the sections are clearer: Preferences, and Help & Feedback.
  • The Dawnlet Plus page lists everything Plus includes - Plan My Week and Plan My Month, "On this day" in your journal, and the Plus widgets - and says "Terms of Service" like the rest of the app.
  • Every editor follows one naming pattern: "New Meal" (it used to say "Log a Meal") alongside "New Event", "Edit Todo" and the rest.
  • The Privacy Policy explains the offline copy Dawnlet keeps on your device - exactly what's in it, how it's protected, and when it's deleted.
  • Editors don't lose your typing. With unsaved changes, swiping an editor down does nothing and Cancel asks before throwing them away. Save shows a spinner while it works.
  • Haptics. A light tap when you check something off, delete something, or start, pause or stop the timer.
  • Clearer "opens on" settings. The three "Default view" settings are now "Open app on", "Agenda opens on" and "Finance opens on", and Finance has an Overview | Transactions switch at the top.
  • Empty months point at your bucket list. When Places, Books or Movies has nothing in a month, it tells you how many are waiting on your bucket list, one tap away. Finance's empty month says which month it is.
  • You'll know when something didn't work. If a screen can't load, or a check-off, swipe or delete doesn't save, a short message says so at the top - instead of an empty list that looked like you had nothing, or a pop-up you had to dismiss. Whatever was already on screen stays there.
  • Works when you're offline. Open Dawnlet with no connection and your agenda, habits, todos, events and Browse show what was there last time, with a small banner saying you're offline - and another when you're back. That copy stays on your phone, protected and never backed up, and is wiped when you sign out. Journal entries, meals and money are never kept this way.
  • Placeholders while things load. Every screen shows the shape of what's coming while it loads for the first time, and only says it's empty once it really is.
  • Faster tab switching. Agenda and Browse no longer reload everything each time you come back to them, Agenda only loads the month you're looking at, and pulling down to refresh always fetches the latest. Coming back to the app picks up anything changed on your Watch or another device.

iPad

  • ⌘N works over an open sheet. It closes Settings or an editor first and opens Agenda's add menu - but never over unsaved changes.
  • Keyboard shortcuts. With a keyboard attached, ⌘1 to ⌘5 switch tabs, ⌘N adds something, ⌘F searches, ⌘, opens Settings and ⌘T pauses or resumes the timer (⇧⌘T stops it). ⌘← and ⌘→ step through days, weeks and months, and in any editor Esc cancels and ⌘Return saves. Hold ⌘ to see them all.
  • Drag and drop. Drag a todo or an event onto a day in Agenda's calendar to move it there, drop text or a link from another app onto Todos, Books or Movies to add it, and drag almost anything out as text.
  • Pointer highlights. Cards, rows and buttons light up under a trackpad or mouse pointer.
  • Two columns whenever there's room. Screens now split by how wide the window is rather than by orientation, so a large iPad in portrait gets two columns too, and a small window keeps one comfortable column.
  • Browse puts this week first. In landscape, "This week" and every module's tile are on the left, with your streaks, badges, people and reports on the right - and the first card in each column lines up.

Accessibility

  • VoiceOver on Apple Watch. Every screen and complication is labelled, habit and todo checks say whether they're done, timers are read in words and their buttons name the activity, and check-offs and timer changes are announced.
  • Easier to tap. Arrows, checkmarks, timer controls, stars and header buttons respond across a full 44-point area, and the habit month strip takes a tap anywhere along a day's column.
  • VoiceOver in Agenda and planning. Every day in Agenda's calendar says how many events, todos and other items it holds, and Plan My Week and Plan My Month read their headings, planned and not-planned states and buttons.
  • VoiceOver reads more of the app. Check-offs say whether they're done, habit weeks and streaks are read as words ("5 of 7 days this week", "3-day streak"), and every day in Agenda's calendar is read with its full date and what's on it.
  • Charts work with VoiceOver, with a summary of each chart and Audio Graphs in Insights and Reports.
  • Headings and announcements. Section headings work with VoiceOver's headings rotor throughout the app, and new badges are announced.
  • Reduce Motion is honoured everywhere. The launch animation becomes a short fade, and loading placeholders, badge celebrations and search stop moving.
  • Clearer text in light mode. Coloured labels, amounts and secondary text meet accessibility contrast guidelines, with extra contrast when Increase Contrast is on, and unrated stars are easier to see.
  • Every button says what it does. VoiceOver now reads the "+" buttons as "New event", "Add to Finance" and so on, the arrows as "Previous month" or "Next week", the timer controls with the session's name, and the bell with how many notifications are unread.
  • Star ratings are one control. VoiceOver reads a rating as "3 of 5 stars", and you swipe up or down to change it.

Fixed

  • Tags and companions save all at once. A dropped connection mid-save can no longer leave an item with none of its tags or "went with", "watched with" or "ate with" people.
  • Finishing Plan My Week or Plan My Month withdraws that day's planning notification.
  • Deleted items leave everywhere at once. A deleted todo or event disappears from the bar above the tabs, Browse's weekly glances and your widgets straight away, and comes back if you tap Undo.
  • Search's "Go to" rows no longer show a doubled arrow.
  • No more off-by-one days after travelling offline. Opening Dawnlet with no connection after changing time zone no longer shows habits, todos, moods and gratitudes on the wrong day.
  • Nothing you write is lost when it can't be saved. If a journal entry, event, meal, gratitude, time session or transaction can't be saved - no connection, say - the editor stays open with what you typed and tells you, instead of closing as if it had worked.
  • Editors tell you why they can't save. A logged session says when its end isn't after its start or is still in the future, instead of just greying out Save, and editing an event or repeating transaction that was deleted on another device now says so rather than closing as if nothing was wrong.
  • Save only saves once. In every editor, Save stays disabled while it's saving, so a second tap can't add a duplicate - and if a habit, todo, person, place, book, movie, budget, activity, category or tag can't be saved, the editor now stays open and says so too.
  • Changes that don't save are undone. Checking off a todo or habit, skipping one, or deleting something no longer looks done when the save actually failed.
  • Notifications survive a dead zone. Opening Dawnlet with no connection no longer cancels the notifications you already had for the next two weeks.
  • Long histories stay accurate. After about a thousand check-ins, entries, places, books or tags, streaks, badges, lists and tags could quietly go wrong. They now count everything.
  • The right year on every calendar. On a phone set to a Buddhist or Japanese calendar, dates were saved with the wrong year.
  • Untick a habit on a past day from Agenda - it used to only ever tick.
  • Habit week dots show this week when your week starts on Sunday, rather than mixing in next Sunday - in the app and in the Home Screen habit widgets.
  • Swipe back works everywhere, and screens opened from the iPad sidebar no longer show a back button that did nothing.
  • The right month, every time. Flicking quickly through months in Finance or Time can no longer show one month's numbers under another month's name.
  • Agenda shows events however far you page through the calendar.
  • Travelling no longer shifts your days. Changing time zone without restarting the app could file a check-in under the wrong day.
  • A notification you switch off stays off, even if you change it while Dawnlet is updating your notifications.
  • Income is easier to read on Agenda's money card.
  • Amounts are saved to the cent when you edit a transaction, budget or repeating transaction.
  • Tapping a repeating transaction twice no longer shows "Something went wrong" for a change that actually saved.

1.2.0

Build 3 Released October 3, 2026

A redesigned Apple Watch app, Browse in place of the Dashboard, and more of the iPad in two columns.

New

  • A redesigned Apple Watch app. It opens on four colourful tiles - Events, Habits, Todos and Timers - each showing where things stand at a glance (your next event, how many habits are done, what's left to do, a running timer) and opening its own screen. Today's events are on the Watch for the first time, and habits and timers show their own colours and icons.

Changed

  • Dashboard is now Browse. The last tab still shows how your week is going - streaks, badges and this week against last - and now also has a tile for every module, so Events, Places, Meals, People, Reports and the rest are one tap away, with Settings after them (on iPad, under "Generate a report"). Its search box is always there at the top instead of hiding until you pull the screen down, and searching for a module or a setting, like "Appearance", takes you straight to it.
  • Notification settings follow your account. Your notification switches, times and quiet hours are the same on every device and survive a reinstall, and someone signing in on a shared phone starts with their own settings rather than the last person's.
  • Examples never count toward badges, even one you finish yourself, and Settings → Sample data removes every example you haven't used in one go.
  • Decide about the examples from the setup banner. "Finish setting up Dawnlet" now asks whether to delete the examples or keep them. Keeping them only hides the question - you can still delete them from Settings later.
  • Journal entries in the app's typeface. Entries are now set in Inter like the rest of Dawnlet, in the editor and when you read them back, with bold and italic kept.
  • Screen titles follow your text size straight away when you change it in iOS Settings, instead of after the app restarts.
  • The Terms of Service and Privacy Policy on the sign-in screen. A line under "Sign in with Apple" says that continuing means agreeing to them, and opens either one in the app.
  • Apple Watch actions reach your iPhone's notifications straight away. Starting, pausing or stopping a timer, or checking off a habit, on your Watch now updates the phone's timer notifications and streak milestones immediately when your iPhone is nearby, rather than the next time you open the app.
  • Habits starts at today. The day-by-day list now begins with Today and works back through the month, instead of opening on the month's last day. Days still to come aren't listed, since a habit can't be checked off in advance, and a month that hasn't started says so.

iPad

  • More of the app in two columns in landscape. Habits shows its month charts beside the list. People shows the person you pick beside everyone else - tap a phone number or email to call or write, and see how many days until their birthday. Settings works like the iPad's own Settings app, with the list on the left and the page you pick on the right. Streaks puts habits beside reflection, and Badges lists its groups on the left - tap one to jump to it. Reports puts the date range beside the sections to include, and a finished report lists its contents on the left so you can jump to any module.
  • Filter beside the list. Notifications, search results, the Places, Books and Movies bucket lists, and recurring events, todos and transactions show a filter on the left in landscape - by module, by genre or category, by to-do or done, by active or paused, by income or expense - with a count beside each.
  • Every module in the sidebar. Events, Todos, Habits, Places, Books, Movies, Meals, Gratitudes, People, Streaks, Badges and Reports each have their own place in the sidebar, grouped under Plan, Collections, Everyday and Insights, with Notifications and Settings at the bottom. The tab bar keeps the same five tabs.
  • Buttons on the same row as the tabs. Agenda, Browse, Finance, Time and Journal now put their buttons at the top, beside the tab bar, like every other screen.
  • Insights tiles no longer cut off, so labels like "days reading" fit in the narrower landscape column.

Fixed

  • All-day events no longer linger into the next day. Yesterday's all-day event could still be listed under Today on the Events screen and in the Home Screen widgets, and a report could count one from the day before its range. It now ends where it should.

1.1.0

Build 3 Released October 2, 2026

A Journal tab, a new Dashboard, streaks and badges, and a much better iPad.

Since release

  • Dawnlet opens on Agenda, and Finance opens on your list of transactions rather than Insights, for every account from October 2. You can still choose either in Settings.
  • Examples across the whole app. A new account now starts with examples in nearly every part of Dawnlet: categories for everyday life and for money, a few habits and todos, events this week, places, books and movies, a month of spending with budgets, a person, a meal, a gratitude and a welcome note in the journal. Existing accounts got the new examples on October 2 too, and any old example you'd already used was kept.
  • Deleting the examples keeps your categories and tags. Settings → Sample data removes the example habits, todos, events and the rest, but the categories and tags a new account starts with stay, ready for your own things.

New

  • A Journal tab. A fifth tab for one day at a time: a one-tap mood check-in, that day's journal entries and gratitudes, and the full journal a tap away. It opens on today and steps back to catch up on a day you missed.
  • A daily mood, everywhere. Set the day's mood from the Journal tab or from Agenda, and choose to show each day's mood under the date in Agenda's calendar instead of the item dots (Settings → Agenda → Under each day).
  • A new Dashboard. A glance at how the week is going rather than a list of today: habits, todos, time, spending, journal, gratitudes and mood, each this week against last with a trend line, plus your people and the next birthday, and a shortcut to reports.
  • Streaks. Current and best streaks for every habit, for journaling, gratitudes and the mood check-in, with the top three on the Dashboard and a Streaks screen for the rest.
  • Badges. 26 badges, most with bronze, silver and gold tiers, earned as you use the app, with a celebration when you reach one and a Badges screen to see them all. Anything you'd already reached is awarded quietly the first time.
  • A guided tour. Nine short pages on how the app is meant to be used, shown once to new accounts and available any time from Settings.
  • Search from the Dashboard. Pull the Dashboard down to search people, todos, habits, events, places, books, movies and your journal, and open any result straight into its editor.
  • A tab bar that gets out of the way. It shrinks as you scroll, with an accessory you choose in Settings → Appearance: the running timer, what's up next, today's progress, quick add, your next habit, or today's spending.
  • Your own colors and icons. Every item follows its category's color and icon unless you give it its own, and lists show each item's look.
  • Tags on repeating events and transactions, passed on to every occurrence.
  • Delete one occurrence or the whole series of a repeating habit day, todo, event or transaction, straight from a swipe.
  • New notifications: a timer still running, a timer left paused, and habit streak milestones.
  • One setup banner at the top of Dashboard and Agenda listing whichever of notifications, Apple Calendar and Apple Reminders are still off, each with its own button to turn it on.
  • Empty lists that help. An empty list is now a card that adds the first item when you tap it.
  • An Account screen showing the name and email your account uses, and a Sample data option in Settings to remove the examples a new account starts with.
  • A fuller About screen, with why Dawnlet exists, its privacy promises, and credits for the open-source code and fonts it uses.

iPad

  • People and Settings in the sidebar.
  • Two columns in landscape. Agenda puts the month calendar, with each day's mood and items, and the week and month planners on the left, and the day on the right. Finance puts the month overview beside the transactions - tap a category to filter them. Time, the Journal tab and Events split the same way, and every month screen with insights shows them on the left beside the list.

Improved

  • New type throughout: Space Grotesk for headings and numbers, Inter for everything else.
  • Agenda's calendar dots now show the day's actual items, and each day section leads with its module's icon.
  • Movie, book and place rows are laid out like habit rows, with the rating at the end of the title and a book's reading progress in its pill.
  • Every swipe action is on the same side, with Delete on the outside, and Finance's transactions can be swiped to delete.
  • Finance uses the same Insights switch and month stepper as every other month screen.
  • Reports put the Generate button at the top.
  • Cards have more depth, especially in dark mode.
  • Meals can be logged for any day, not just the one you're looking at.
  • The Privacy Policy and Terms of Service always show the latest version.
  • The Apple Watch app loads faster for long-time habit trackers.

Changed

  • If your Dawnlet Plus subscription lapses, adding events to Apple Calendar and updating Apple Contacts pause, and pick up again when you resubscribe. The rest of the Contacts settings, including deleting synced contacts, are free.

Fixed

  • No more "JWT expired" errors after the app has been in the background for a while.
  • Clearing a field while editing - a category, a rating, a date, a mood, a note - now actually clears it, and a habit can be set back to every day.
  • Deleting your account now also revokes Sign in with Apple, so signing up again gets your name back.
  • Signing out clears the previous account's notifications and notification feed from the device.
  • Sample data no longer counts toward badges.
  • Adding a person from Agenda's "+" menu opens People instead of a "coming soon" screen.

Build 4 The first release

One calm app for your events, todos, habits, money, time, and the small things you want to remember - shown a single day at a time.

  • Agenda. Page through a week or month, tap a day, and see it module by module: events, habits, todos, places, books, movies, money, time, meals, gratitudes and journal entries. Reorder or hide sections, and plan your week or month with guided flows.
  • Events and todos, one-off or repeating, with skippable occurrences.
  • Habits on every day or chosen weekdays, with streaks that correct themselves when you fix a day you forgot.
  • Money: income and expenses by category, monthly budgets, repeating bills, and an optional Face ID lock.
  • Time tracking with a live timer, real pauses, and today's and this week's totals.
  • Places, books and movies to look forward to, and the people in your life, with birthday notifications.
  • A journal with as many entries a day as you like, bold and italic, moods and search.
  • Meals and gratitudes, logged from the day itself.
  • Notifications that keep working: 27 kinds, each with its own switch, quiet hours, and two weeks armed at a time.
  • Home Screen widgets, an Apple Watch app with complications, and iPad support.
  • Apple Calendar, Reminders and Contacts, read on your device.
  • Dawnlet Plus: month insights, reports with PDF export, data export, repeating items, budgets, "on this day" and recaps, monthly or yearly with a 14-day free trial.
  • Private by design: Sign in with Apple, no analytics, ads or tracking, and account deletion from inside the app.
